During the Age of Discovery, a fleet of young men set sail from the port of Lisbon in their quest for the new horizon. Crossing the Atlantic, around America, they braved through relentless waters. More than half a world later, they came upon an island hidden in the west edge of the Pacific:
Quietly displaying her lush plains and curvaceous coastline, affectionately called the GEM (“宝岛”) by local Chinese people, the island of Taiwan instantly captivated the young sailors far away from home. In their own language they exclaimed FORMOSA (meaning ‘Beautiful’ in Portuguese,) a name that has been cherished by many for this beauty.
As fate would have it: half a century later, “FORMOSA ZEN”, tucked away at the west edge of Pacific Street, is opening herself to Omaha. Jenny Hsu originally from Taiwan, also successful restaurateurs of the delicious ‘China Road’ restaurant, are determined to offer another Gem of their own.
